Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are large, federally-funded entitlement programs* that account for 60% of federal funding, which supports two Mobility Experiences: accessing public benefits and programs and accessing care for mental and physical health conditions. Because these programs are mandatory spending at the federal level, the ability to influence this funding is limited.

By removing these large funding pools from the dataset, we can better examine the relative funding levels for other Mobility Domains that may be more susceptible to shifting federal priorities and/or more amenable to support for increased investment. We see that Financial Well-being remains the most highly funded domain, with Physical and Mental Health remaining the second most highly funded, but much closer in total funding to the other domains. Community Interactions receives a relatively large proportion of federal funding, with significant investment into affordable housing and infrastructure access. Mobility Experiences in the Career Progression domain, however, stand out clearly as receiving relatively limited funding despite significant impacts on lifetime income.
